We recorded Velvet Static live to tape in a converted woolshed three hours out of town, with one good microphone and a lot of bad coffee. We wanted it to sound like the room felt at 2am — warm, a little blurry, impossible to leave.
Why live to tape
Tracking together in one room means the mistakes are shared, and the magic is too. You can hear Petra's kick bleeding into Juno's vocal mic on "Slow Tide" and we kept every bit of it.
The goal was never clean. The goal was alive.
